Overview
Participants will learn and demonstrate all knowledge and skills needed to provide appropriate patient assessments, interventions, and on-going care, including the transportation of a patient to a healthcare facility.
Course content may vary depending on jurisdictional requirements and, in addition, follows the National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP) as defined by the Paramedic Association of Canada.
Participants will be engaged in dynamic training techniques including video, media presentations, skills demonstrations, practice sessions, discussions and scenarios based on real-life situations.

Valid Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C Certificate

In order to successfully complete the program, the following criteria must be met:
- Successful demonstration of the required skills
- Minimum 75% mark for written, closed book, and knowledge evaluations
- Successful completion of two evaluated scenarios – one medical and one trauma
- Attendance and participation in 100% of the course
Certification
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a 3-year certification in Emergency Medical Responder (digital certificate issued upon successful completion)
What is Included
All the necessary equipment and tools are available for you to use in the classroom, in order for you to be successful in the course. A digital copy of the textbook will be sent to you along with a host of documents to support your learning. The texts are the following:

What to Bring
Upon registration, please feel free to start reviewing the Emergency Care for Professional Responders Textbook (PDF), and the Workbook for your course level.
The Workbook is designed to be used as a study guide. We suggest that you start it prior to the course and complete it as we progress through the course You will be required to submit it upon course completion.
We recommend that students purchase a copy of the printed textbook and a Professional Responder Student Kit. This will allow students to write notes in their textbooks if required, and use their own equipment. If you do not purchase your own kit, all the necessary equipment will still be made available for your use during this course.
Be advised that these are lengthy, rigorous days of study, so ensure that you bring the appropriate nutrition and hydration for yourself.

Please note: if this course is not filled to 75% capacity 7 days before it is scheduled to begin, it may be cancelled. In the event of course cancellation, you will be provided adequate notice and a full refund.
Accommodations may be available upon request for the duration of your program. If you are staying for one or two nights, the flat rate for accommodations is $50 plus taxes. If you are staying for three or more nights, the fee is $100 plus taxes, total. Regardless of how long you are on campus, your fee will not exceed $100 plus taxes. This fee grants you access to your bunk, a communal kitchen, parking, and washroom/shower facilities.
