    SFA NFPA 1002 (2017) CH5 Driver Operator

    Course Length:

    3 Days or 24 Hours of Instruction

    1 Day or 8 hours of OFMEM Certification Testing when available from OFMEM

    This course will be run at our 36 Hazel Street Waubaushene, Ontario location

    NOTE – Pre-Service students are not eligiable to write the OFM testing.  This is not a Southwest Fire Academy rule, but an OFM rule.  Active fire fighters are able to participate in the OFM testing.


    Course Description:

    This course is based on NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver Operator Professional Qualifications, Chapter 5 Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump. At the end of the 3 days of training, active fire fighters will have met the requirements to complete the OFMEM NFPA 1002 IFSAC testing. All training will be completed with a working fire apparatus. Topics for this course include:


    The pre-course requires the IFSTA Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump Driver Operator Textbook:

    • Field calculations
    • Foam considerations
    • Relay Pumping
    • Transitions from onboard water to pressurized and static sources



    DZ Driver License (for OFMEM testing Only)

    • A safety-first attitude and open mind
    • CSA approved footwear (steel toe)
    • Camera – we encourage you take pictures
    • Station work wear – long pants / long sleeves recommended
