    NOTE – SFA does not sign students into OFMEM certification testing.  Once the course is complete the students Fire Chief must register them for the IFSAC / ProBoard certification Testing.

     

    Course Description:

    The Southwest Fire Academy Fire Service Instructor Level I program in compliant to the NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Standard. This 80 hour training program is presented with 24 in class hours and 60 out of class hours to achieve all objectives. This course is designed to provide skills and teaching techniques for those who will be instructing emergency services courses. Areas covered are role of the instructor, adult learning principles, methods of instruction, lesson planning, objectives, learning environment, instructional techniques, and lesson preparation. Students are required to complete out of class study and the pre-work package provided.
